Meet Snoopy, MJ's New Mobile Laser Scanner

M.J. Engineering and Land Surveying, P.C. is excited to announce that we now have in-house mobile mapping capabilities. MJ recently purchased the ScanLook 2.0 (~Snoopy) to add to our laser scanning technology collection. MJ’s new mobile laser scanner is capable of collecting survey-grade data from a mobile platform. The ScanLook 2.0 can be mounted to cars, boats, trains, ATVs and even airborne vehicles.

Mobile mapping allows for accurate data collection, computing power and speedy deliverables which reduce rework and accelerate project timelines, saving both time and money. The safety of MJ’s field crews is increased by avoiding hazardous situations, while safely collecting large amounts of measurement data. MJ has used mobile mapping on a variety of projects from mapping subway tubes and highways to shorelines, urban streetscapes and educational facilities.

“By adding mobile mapping to our suite of service offerings, we are able to offer our clients a level of mapping speed and accuracy that was previously unimaginable,” said MJ's president, Michael Panichelli. “Mobile mapping is transforming the way in which we map our world.”

MJ was one of the first firms in the U.S. to utilize laser scanning on engineering projects. Since 2004, our survey group has used laser scanning to generate survey-grade mapping and as-built drawings for hundreds of project s. MJ’s licensed surveyors, with an average of 25 years experience, oversee and direct all work.
