CR10 Wins a Spot in Local Bridge Calendar

CR10 Huntersland Road over Little Schoharie Creek has won a coveted spot in the Local Bridge Calendar for 2019! The beautiful image below will be showcased for the month of December.

Located in the Town of Middleburgh, near the border of Albany County, the bridge carries Huntersland Road (County Road 10) over the Little Schoharie Creek. The original structure was adjacent prestressed concrete slab units upon reinforced concrete gravity abutments with a 26-foot span. The existing structure was constricting the waterway, causing undermining to the abutments and tilting of the wingwalls. The new structure opened the waterway, with a 39-foot span, utilizing a galvanized multi-steel girder superstructure with a composite concrete deck, supported upon reinforced concrete integral abutments with 14-inch diameter concrete piles perched behind coated permanent sheet piling walls, that reduced the impact of the laid-back slopes to the residents that lived immediately adjacent to the bridge, as well as act as scour protection. The roadway was also shifted 6 feet west to avoid right-of-way impacts. The bridge is owned by Albany County who hired MJ to complete the design and construction inspection.
